Chris and Susan Lockhart moved to McDonough, GA in 2006 with their daughter Hayden after leading a ministry to students in Mobile, AL. They didn’t originally move to the community to start a church; actually they really didn’t want to at all.

But from the time Chris and Susan moved to the area they began to sense a need for a different kind of church, a church that would love and engage anyone and everyone. People with issues, hurts and who don’t have it all together. In other words, people who aren’t so perfect. God began to really work on them about starting a new church. After days and hours of prayer asking God to open a door where the family could do anything but start a church, God continued to make it extremely clear that the plan was for them to get to work. After meeting and praying with friends and family, The Grove was born and with it a God-given vision to create a movement in Henry County and beyond that would change everything. A vision to Love God, Love People & Leave No Doubt that following Jesus is a better way to live.

The Grove is quickly growing to become an intentional community of people who aren’t interested in serving themselves. They are instead focused on making the place they call home a better place to live! So we’re partnering with the whole family to create an environment where no matter what questions you have you can safely explore the possibility of faith in Christ, find a new family and help us create a movement that will change the world
